Show Local Branch Off Christensen's Shows Steady Gain According to a report issued this week from the home of- , ,. fice of Christensen's a small department de-partment store chain in Central, Cen-tral, Southern and Eastern Utah, the Roosevelt store, managed by Dwain Buchanan, since its opening op-ening Feb. 23, 1950, has shown the second largest gain in business busi-ness for the month of April, 1951, as compared with the same month last year. There are eleven elev-en stores in the chain, and Roosevelt Roos-evelt is No. 10. The top store in the group was the Spanish Fork unit, which had a 29.9 per cent gain, with Roosevelt a close second with 27.1 per cent. The first store was organized in Richfield Rich-field 22 years ago. Mr. Buchanan was assistant manager of the Salina store for 4 years before coming to the Basin last year to pioneer the business enterprise here for his company. He is a native of Venice, Ven-ice, Utah, and has devoted most of his mature life to the mercantile mercan-tile business, excepting a few years in the Navy during World War II, and two years as a missionary mis-sionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Norway. His wife, Ann. is a member of the Roosevelt elementary ele-mentary school faculty. |
