Show Two Students Gain Speech Honors in UBIG Contest Three boys from Roosevelt and one from Altamont competed compet-ed in the U.B.I.C. speech contest con-test held Tuesday, May 15, at 11 a. m. at Roosevelt high school, which brought honors to Don Evans, Altamont, and Tommy Tom-my Rowley, Roosevelt. Other contestants were Ronald Ron-ald Zirker and Foy Swain, Roosevelt. Roos-evelt. Evans and Rowley, winners from Duchesne county will com-1 pete with the two winners from! Uintah county at the U.B.I.C, I and the two finalists wili be awarded scholarships of $50 and ' $25 respectively, to any college of their choice. All talks were given on the 1951 U.B.I.C. slogan,' "Colorado River, Utah's Last Water Hole," and contained vital statistics on how much water will be diverted divert-ed for use in Utah and the Uin tah Basin as well as surrounding states. |
