Show Sports Round-Up By Vcxland Nelson According to reports, the organization or-ganization of a ski club in Roosevelt Roos-evelt is progressing. A charter is being drawn up andasuitable site is being located. The latest talk is that Vernal and Roosevelt Roose-velt will join forces and choose a site equi-distant from each town and erect lilts, coujrses and eventually a club house or lodge. Last Thursday night the Roosevelt Roos-evelt High school basketball team surprised most of the local fans by turning back the American Ameri-can Legion team 31 to 20. The Legion boys had their way for the first half. Keeping control of the ball most of the time. The half-time score was 13 to 7 for the Legionnaires. The Rough Ridcxs had little respect for their older and more experienced foe as they rallied to tic the score at the end of the third quarter and went on to completely control the game tne last quarter. Gleaton, Clark, and Timothy showed up well for the Rough Riders. These boys, along with 9 or 10 other capable ball handlers, hand-lers, should take tile high school team well to the top of the list. The Basin League is ready to get under way just as soon as all entries are in. Tal Wardle says things look good for a bang-up contest as more and more teams show in-terest in-terest Saturday night Dec. 13, the American Legion will play the Vernal Oilers in the Elementary gym. The Oilers boast a roster of all college and high school stars. This should be a fine exhibition ex-hibition as both teams are among the best in the Basin. A preliminary prelim-inary game will start at 7:00 p. m., with the big game following. follow-ing. , |
