Show Mt. Emmons Peggy Ann Case Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Mecham made a business trip to Salt Lake the fore part of last week. They also visited with Mrs. Mecham's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Brandon. . Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Johnston gave a cooking' demonstration at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Monson, Wednesday evening, others present were Mr. and Mrs. Ross Monson, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Wal-lace Seeley, Bluebell: Zella Rust, Eva Dean Crosby and Deane Case, Mt. Emmons. The following people enjoyed an outing and campfire supper at the Twin Pots reservoir one evening last week: Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Pearson and daughters, Boneta; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Case, Salt Lake: City: Mrs. Kelly Sprouse and daughter, Roosevelt; Mr. and Mrs. Evan Hansen and Mrs. Floyd Case and daughters. Tuesday evening 15 members of the L D S Girls group were treated to a picture show in Roosevelt Roos-evelt by their leaders, Mrs. Ina Mecham, Mrs. Pearl Orr, Miss Zella Rust, Mrs. Lola Evans, Mrs. Mary Mendenhall and Miss Eva Dean Crosby. Mrs. Madora Mecham Me-cham accompanied the firoup, taking her car to help with the transportation. Before leaving for Roosevelt the girls and leaders lead-ers had a picnic lunch on the ward chapel lawn. Mr. and Mrs. Rawlins Thacker have moved to Roosevelt, and the Elliot family have moved back to Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Hal Barton and new baby son of Salt Lake were in Mt. Emmons during the week to make arrangements for living liv-ing quarters for the winter. Mr. Barton has been engaged as coach and band leader. Both the Bartons taught at the high school last year. Some of the younger set gathered gath-ered at the Ross Iorg: home Friday Fri-day night to surprise Arlys Iorg Qfi his birthday. The evening was spent in dancing and roasting roast-ing weiners. In addition to the guest of honor, the following were present: Dorothy Hansen, Leona Titcomb, Ruby Titcomb, Carma Hansen, George Case, George Chapman and Barton Bennion. The Iorg family recently re-cently moved here from Ft. Duchesne. Du-chesne. It is reported that Dwaine Harper Har-per is purchasing the S. E. At-wood At-wood place from Mrs. Harry Chapman, of Rangely, Colorado. Rulon Powell Is planning to move back to his home here. He and his family have spent the summer at Orem. Mrs. Arthur Case, of Salt Lake came Sunday to get her son, Scott, who has spent the past three weeks with his grandparents, grandpar-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie J. Orr. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gardner and son, of Spanish Fork, and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Oberhansly, of Neola, were guests at the Holder home Wednesday. Mrs Holder, Mrs, Oberhansley and Mr. Gardner are brother and sisters. sis-ters. Mrs. Evan Hansen is enjoying a visit from her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Thayne, of Salt Lake City, and her sister, Mrs. Myrtle Harding, of Long Beach, Calif. The latter part of the week, the visitors and Mr. and Mrs. Hansen plan a trip to Riverton, Wyo., to call on other relatives. Mrs. Mary A. Case is home after af-ter spending four months with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Neal, in Keddie, Cal. Accompanying her home was another daughter, Mrs. Mary C. Snyder, who has been visiting visit-ing the Neals for the past three weeks. Before returning to Mt. Emmons, Mrs. Case visited in Ogden with her son, Joseph, and family, and Mrs. Snyder spent some time with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Ames, in Pocatello, Idaho. Brent Ames accompanied his grandmother grand-mother to Mt. Emmons for a visit. Mr- and Mrs Martin Hislop and sons spent two days last week in Coalville, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beard; in Murray, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Lublin; and in Salt Lake City where they too the boys to Hogle Garden zoo and to Liberty park. The Altamont band students are joining the bands from Duchesne Du-chesne and Tabiona on Friday for a trip to Lagoon. The trip i3 under the leadership of Mr. Clark, who has been directing the summer band work. LDS Quarterly Conference for Moon Lake Stake was held in Mt. Emmons Saturday evening and Sunday. Elder Spencer W, -I Kimball of the Council of the Twelve, who was scheduled to 1 represent the general authorities, i was unable to be present. Amon? the speakers at the conference were Doyle L. Johnson, of Lakeside, Lake-side, Ariz.; and N. Merrill Brim-hall, Brim-hall, of Mesa, Ariz. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Brimhall are serving as missionaires to the Indians in Uintah and Duchesne counties. Stake President Wm. N. Broth-erson Broth-erson and his counselors. Leon M. Burton and U. B. Winkler, presided over the first three sessions ses-sions of the conference. At the Sunday evening meeting. Rock Kirkham of the General MIA Board, was the principal speaker. speak-er. He spoke on scouting which is his special assignment on the Board. This session was under the direction of Farrell Mohlman and Mrs. Adaline Anderson, stake MIA leaders. LaRae Dastrup, of Malad, Ida. visited here last week with relatives. rel-atives. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dastrup, who formerly resided in this area. |
