Chris Koch of Gusher was a business visitor in Roosevelt Monday. J. W. Jenson of My ton was a business visitor in Roosevelt in the interests of the Oasis. Mrs. Owen Goodrich of Tri-dell Tri-dell was a visitor in Roosevelt Tuesday. Mrs. Oscar Lyman of Duchesne Du-chesne was in Roosevelt Tuesday of this week. Mrs. Max Owen and daughter, Maxine spent a few days last week in Salt Lake City visiting with Max who is in the armed service. Mayor Wm. H. Fitzwater and wife of Duchesne were Roosevelt Roose-velt visitors last week. Mayor Fitzwater was postmaster at Duchesne for a number of years. Frank Roberts of Pleasant Valley was a visitor in Roosevelt Saturday. Mr. Roberts spent the past winter in Salt Lake City doing temple work. Dr. W. W. Lewis of Price of the Lewis Optical company spent Monday in Roosevelt on business. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lublin of Hill Field were in Roosevelt over ov-er the week end visiting at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Paul Murphy. Mrs. Ann Galloway, who has been visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Andrews the gast two weeks, returned to her ome in Santa Monica, California, Californ-ia, Sunday. Thella Wilson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Seth Wilson of Roosevelt, is attending the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University during the spring quarter according to Registrar John E. Hayes. Miss Wilson who is a Junior is studying study-ing in the field of vocational home economics. Mr. and Mrs. Faye Johnson have written to some of their friends here announcing the birth of their baby girl, April 12th; they have named her Mercy Lynn. The Johnsons are at Maiden, Mo. They both taught at the Roosevelti High school. Mrs. Zella McGee of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Bell Leonard of Aniheim, California, have spent a few days in Roosevelt during the illness and death of their father. They will return to their home Sunday. Mrs. Marion Alexander left Tuesday for Salt Lake City where she will spend a few days at the home of her son, Freeman who has been inducted into the armed forces. His wife is to undergo un-dergo an operation for appendicitis appendici-tis this week. Junior Social Culture Club Mrs. Bill Litster entertained at the home of her mother, Mrs. Erve Wardle Monday evening. Mrs. Stanley Peterson gave a book review, "Chicken Every Sunday" by Rosemary Taylor. Mrs. Parley Rawlings presided over the meeting in the absence of the president, Mrs. Ned Bel-Ion. Bel-Ion. Their summer project, which is the kindergarten and will be held in Roosevelt, was discussed. Those present were Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Elmer El-mer Eldredge, LaRue Allred, Mrs. Bernard Larsen, Mrs. Stanley Stan-ley Peterson, Mrs. Frank Yack, Mrs. Ned Gines and Mrs. Litster. The state convention which was held in Salt Lake City last week end was attended by Mrs. Stanley Stan-ley Hall, Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Ned Bellon, Mrs. Bill Litster, Lit-ster, Mrs. Elmer Eldredge and LaRue Allred of the Roosevelt club. A tea was held Friday at the Governor's mansion; Satur-breakfast Satur-breakfast was served at Hotel Utah and was followed by a formal banquet, Governor Maw was the principal speaker. Thought and Thimble Club Mrs. Jack Redmond entertained entertain-ed the members of the Thought and Thimble club at her home Friday evening. A delicious lunch was served to Margaret Wiscombe, Clista Angus, Opal Dillman, Hazel Beeler, Vivian Gleaton, Mable Allen, Renetta Granger, Faye White and the hostess, Mrs. Redmond. Neighborhood Sewing Club Mrs. Art Allen, Mrs. J. S. Rawlings, Raw-lings, LaRue Allred, Mrs. Louis Laris, Mrs. Darrell Walker, Mrs. George Chenowith, Mrs. Howard How-ard Gardner, Mrs. Stanley Hall, Mrs. Parley Rawlings, members of the Neighborhood Sewing club met at the home of Mrs. Voyne Walker Wednesday evening. even-ing. A lovely luncheon was enjoyed. Ladies' Fish and Game The Ladies' Fish and Game club will hold their monthly meeting Monday, April 24th at 8 o'clock p. m., at the home of Mrs. Pearl Redmond. It will be in the form of an Old Fashioned costume party and elections of officers will be held. All members mem-bers are urged to be present and bring a box lunch. Daughters of Pioneers The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will met at the home of Florence Nielson Friday, April 28 at 3 o'clock. All members mem-bers and eligible members are invited to be present. Altrus Club The Altrus club will meet at the home of Mrs. Ray E. Dillman Thursday evening, Mrs. Ray S. Jordan, the president reports. Mrs. Avard Rigby will give a report on "Bernadette". Jue-Mclniyre The R. J. Leonard home on Lincoln Place in Boulder, Colorado, Colo-rado, was the scene of the wedding wed-ding of Miss Alyce Jue, niece of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Wing of Ft. Duchesne, Utah, and Harold A. Mclntyre, son of Mrs. Anna Mc Intyre of Denver, on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Joho F. Futchs, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran church, performed the ceremony in front of the fireplace fire-place which was banked with ferns and yellow jonquils, with yellow and white candles as a background. The bride wore an azure pearl gray suit with black accessories and orchid corsage. Mr. and Mrs. F. E, Mortimer, of Golden, brother in law and sister sis-ter of the bridegroom were the attendants. At the reception which followed, a three-tier wedding wed-ding cake was cut by the bride. Mrs. W. T. Hollcn presided at the table, with decorations carrying out the yellow and white color scheme. The bride attended grade and high schools in Kansas Kan-sas City, Mo , was a graduate of Alterra High, and has been attending at-tending the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Mr. Mclntyre attended the University Un-iversity of Colorado at Boulder, and has spent 15 months as a Sergeant in the Air Corps. After receiving an honorable discharge he has been employed at the Lockheed Aircraft, company in Glendale, California. He is to go back into the service soon, but will continue work until called. He is the nephew of Mrs. Leonard Leon-ard and W. T. Hollen of Boulder. Mrs. Mclntyre is visiting in Ft. Duchesne and will fly to Glendale Glen-dale to join her husband April 23. |
