Show Finals In Speech Stake Seminaries Held Sunday Finals in the Roosevelt Stake Seminaries were held Sunday; and Alterra Seminary was held at Ballard Sunday at 12:30; the contestants were Enoch Stolla, Charles Wahlquist, and KarJ Betts of the boys and Rhea HuV' er, Ora Hamaker, Mary Eksund and Iova Jorgensen of the girls; Enoch Stolla and Rhea Huber were the winners. At the Roosevelt Ward chapel during the evening sacrament services, the Roosevelt Seminary run off their finals; the following follow-ing program was carried out: Invocation, In-vocation, Willard Day; declama-! tions by the following students: , Gilbert Horrocks whose subject was "Marriage"; Ronald Edring-ton Edring-ton who spoke on "Why I Am a Mormon"; Arvin Bellon on "Laying "Lay-ing Life's Foundations"; Bob Benson on "America"; Marylin Lambert on "Prayer"; Dorothy Dillman on "Thy Speech Betray-eth Betray-eth Thee"; Clara Broderick on "Honor Thy Parents"; LeRue Bowden on "Home"; Lela Young on "The Power of Truth"; during dur-ing the time the judges were consulting con-sulting David Wilson played two ' piano selections; Rose Brokaw accompanied by Mrs. Heiner played two violin selections; the judges consisting of Mrs. Bern-ice Bern-ice Nelson, Mrs. Ruth Jensen, Marden Broadbent and Ernest : Morrison gave the decision to j Gilbert Horrocks for the boys and Dorothy Dillman for the ! girls. Leland Angus presented the winners with a leather ; bound copy of the combined : works of the church and the, other contestants with a copy of Richard Evans' book, "This I Day and Always.
