Means, Wesley ' King and Alex Greene, of Salt Lake City, were Uintah Basin visitors last Saturday. Mr. Means will be remembered as an early Indian Service irrigation engineer engi-neer who headquartered at Myton. My-ton. Prior to returning to Salt Lake Mr. Means expressed the wish that he might meet all of his old friends once more. He deligated "Ye Editor" to tell them all hello. Bernice Palfreyman left Tuesday Tues-day for Manti, Utah, where she has accepted a position as Home Demonstration Agent for Sanpete San-pete county." She has filled a similar position in Duchesne county during the past three years. Mr. and Mrs. Kirk C. Wilkins left Wednesday for Provo where they will again attend theBYU. IVTrs. Wilkins is in her fourth year as a voice, drama and speech major, while Mr. Wilkins is majoring ma-joring in - radio broadcasting. They have been visiting in Roosevelt Roos-evelt since September 20, with Mr. Wilkins' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilkins. Back from the gay lure of Los Angeles and Long Beach are Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Ashton. They left September 11 and drove to California Cal-ifornia with Mr. and Mrs. Lowe Ashton, of Heber, to attend the wedding of their nephew, Ralph Ashton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rae Ashton, of Vernal. They returned via Yosemite Park and Reno, and stopped at Wendover, to watch John Cobb break the world's speed record across a measured land mile on the famous salt flats. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Collingham are spending a three-week vacation vaca-tion in Los Angeles, San Berna-dino, Berna-dino, Pasadena and Long Beach, California, where they are visiting visit-ing with friends and relatives. Mrs. Jessie Robison, proprietor proprie-tor of Robbie's Shop, was admitted admit-ted to the Roosevelt hospital Tuesday for treatment. Also in the hospital is Mrs. Delia Garfield, Gar-field, wife of Glen C. Garfield, principal of the Roosevelt Elementary Ele-mentary school, and Mrs. Maggie Mag-gie Murray, of Whiterocks. Sam Herron, of Arizona, former for-mer Ft. Duchesne merchant, was taken ill while visiting with friends and relatives in Ft: Duchesne, Du-chesne, and is now confined to the Roosevelt hospital. I Mrs. Parley Lambert left Saturday Sat-urday morning for Los Angeles to attend funeral services for her brother-in-law, who died as a result re-sult of a heart attack suffered ! while visiting in Chicago Mrs. Nyals Andrcason is substituting for Mrs. Lambert at the Alterra High School, i ! Mary Walker, postmistress at Mountain Home, suffered a heart attack monday afternoon and , was taken to the Roosevelt hos-j hos-j pital. Her condition is reported as satisfactory. John Roller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Roller, left Thursday Thurs-day to enroll as a student at the University of Utah, where he plans to study engineering. Burr Eldredge, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Harold Eldredge, left Wednesday to enroll as a freshman fresh-man at the B Y U at Provo. Eva Eldredge plans to leave Saturday to attend the B Y U. This will be her sophomore year as a student there.
