Show Federal Reserve Says Livestock Losing Importance SALT LAKE CITY Livestock Live-stock is losing its relative impor-j impor-j tance as a source of agricultural income in the West, the Federal I Reserve Bank reported, according accord-ing to the Associated Press. In a study of farm income in the seven states of the Twelfth Federal Fed-eral Reserve District, it was found that livestock was a less important source of farmers' cash income in 1946 than in 1939. However, it was noted that it is too early to tell whether this represents a permanent shift in the agricultural economy of the district. The survey disclosed that individual livestock products pro-ducts varied greatly among the states as a source of cash income m 1946. Sheep raising was found to be of considerable importance only in Nevada, Utah and Idaho. Dairy products accounted for between 10 and 17 per cent of income in all seven states except Arizona. |
