Show I Woman Killed by Auto ' Youth Faces Charge I Mrs. Adelaide Nelson, Hakenson, 42, wile of A. H. Hakenson of 530 , East First South street, manager of i the Salt Lake branch of the Cali-' Cali-' fornia State Lite Insurance company, com-pany, was struck by an automobile : and killed Wednesday at 12:15 p. m. at State street and Exchange place. j Orson Bleyl. 13, of 148 Canyon I read, driver of the car, was charged with involuntarily manslaughter in la complaint issued by John D. Rice, Suit Lake county attorney. He is i held in the city jail. Mrs. Hakenson was on her way to J meet her husband at the chamber i cl' commerce, where they planned to attend the chamber membership luncheon, to which the wives had t been invited. Mrs. Hakenson was walking south I across Exchange place when she vas struck and huned several reei i by the automobile which, south-; south-; bound on State street, had turned j west into Exchange place, according i to Patrolman Clayton Blank, who 1 investigated. I The victim was rushed to the ' emergency hospital, where she died l at 12:45 p. m. Her injuries in-I in-I eluded several fractured ribs, per-' per-' i'orations of theh lungs and liver, ! abrasions about the body and In-j In-j temal injuries. Bleyl was arrested and placed in l the city jail for investigation. He was traveling at an excessive speed, Patrolman Blank charged. The officer said the machine was going so fast that in turning the corner it swept nearly to the south curb of Exchange place. Mrs. Hakenson was born January 11, 1838, in Salina, and came to Salt Lake ten years ago. She was a member of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and the Women's Relief corps. She was a former student at Waatch Academy. Surviving are her husband; a son, Howard Hakenson of Salt Lake; mother, Mrs. Matilda C. Nelson of Salina . and brother, Arthur Nelson of Salina. |
