Show The Chantey qua as a CoBOTBi&snity . Builder The American Lumberman, the great organ of the lumber interests, says in an editorial : "The Chautauqua provides just that combination of education, entertainment, recreation and inspiration that is indispensable to the building up of a community. Hence, the community that secures it will move forward in the march of progress, and the one that does not have a Chautauqua has neglected one of the most effective means of working out its salvation." The aim of our Chautauqua prqgrams is to make every town a better town in which to live and do business, to bring a message of good cheer and optimism and the inspiration of success, prosperity and progress. One of the great values of the Chautauqua is in calling citizens together to-gether and in their becoming unconsciously welded into a community group a group of Americans that will think and plan and act as a group for the help of the whole group. Concrete examples of the Chautauqua's quickening influence on community life and in the solution of town and city problems are multiplying. multi-plying. In this connection we print below a letter from Lompoc, California, Cali-fornia, which speaks for itself. TRU5TE.EJ Meetings of Trustees: officers a. c Whitumwe.
