Show Julius Caesar Nayphe The Athenian Lecturer "The Crescent and the Cross" Julius Caesar Nayphe in his costumed lecture, "The Crescent and the Cross," presents to Chautauquas a vivid living picture of the Orient and the Occident. "The Crescent and the Cross" is an eloquent expression of an Oriental's impressions of America and an adopted American's impressions impres-sions of the Orient. 1 Nayphe is a Greek-American of unbroken royal Grecian lineace and the classic and traditional atmosphere of old Athens breathes in the grace of his figure and the elegance of his manner. He carries with him a wealth of gorgeous finery worn by the ladies of Athens and at each Chau tauqua several local young women are selected to wear these gowns on the stage to illustrate the funny marriage ceremonies of the Far East Nayphe's lecture has been one of the headline attractions of Ch tauquas all over the country the past few years.
