Show Labor And Democracy William Green, president of the American Federation of Labor, thinks that the bulwark of democracy de-mocracy is to be strengthened by giving to labor a stronger voice in the councils of government, in industrial relationships and in all field of human welfare. Well, Mr. Green may be right. Just the same, it might be worth pointing out that a case can be made for the farmer, whose support sup-port of democracy has not been surpassed by any other class in the United States. There is no law that we know of that will give labor a more important role in various fields of . human welfare and there is much law to give labor an effective effect-ive voice in industrial affairs. Labor La-bor however, seems unable to organize itself to take advantage of the statutes that have been written for its protection. One of the best methods to increase in-crease the strength of labor in :iie. councils of government involves in-volves the terminaton of the li'rr firrht t'.ni uut, l:..r d v;ck-ii. v;ck-ii. L.c Uivled States. If Mr. Green, and his antagonist, Mr. Lewis, , will devote their energies to this task, they will serve the cause) of labor well. |
