Show Funeral Rites for Jacob Nelson Held Saturday Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed Saturday, Oct. 3 at Olpin-Sundberg Olpin-Sundberg Mortuary for Jacob Nelson, 83, lifelong resident of Pleasant Grove, who died in an American Fork Hospital last Thursday after a 10-day illness. The impressive service began at 2 p.m. with Merlin WadLey of the Second Ward bishopric conducing. con-ducing. Invocation was offered by Carl Hadfield. Eugene Nelsori' of Orem sang "Abide with Me, Tis Eventide," accompanied by Doris Crystal. Speakers who paid tribute to the honest, sincere life of Mr. Nelson were Daniel Jorgensen of American Fork, life-long friend who told of boyhood struggles and escapades and of early manhood man-hood days, and spoke words of . gospel truth to his listeners. Ned Johnson, a nephew, recently returned re-turned from the Norwegian mission mis-sion field, gave a fine gospel sermon ser-mon on why we are and of the plan of salvation. Mrs. Nadine Taylor accompanied accompan-ied by Sandra Van Leuen sang "Absent." Closing remarks of sympathy " and appreciation were made by Mr. Wadley after which Eugene Nelson, accompanied by Miss Crystal sang -"Going Home." Een-. Een-. ediction was. offered by George . Pace, a nephew. Burial was made in the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove City Cemetery where the dedicatorial prayer was offered of-fered by George Sanders. Pallbearers, all nephews of the departed,, were Leo and Ned Johnson, Carl Hadfield, George Case, George Johnson, Dale Hadfield. Had-field. Flowers were cai'ed for by the Pleasant Grove Second Ward Rlief Society. Mr. Nelson was born Oct. 24. 1875 in Pleasant Grove, a son of " Henry and Inger Benstort Nelson. Nel-son. He was a fruit raiser and miner and prospector. He was foreman of the first Timpanogos , trail. He was a . member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Datter-day Datter-day Saints. Survivors . included several nephews and nieces. |
