Show ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWS Officer John Huntsman and Sheriff Dick Chappie visited at Central School Monday. They talked to the Fourth and Fifth graders on Safety and swore in the Fifth grid; students of Iowa Io-wa Hall as Junior Police for the month of October. ESN The Central PTA officers held an executive meeting on Monday Oct. 5. They made plans for the family night Halloween party for Friday evening, Oct. 30 and also arranged details for the "Parents "Par-ents Talent Night" planned for Thursday, Nov. 5. ESN Bashir Kahlil, an exchange farm student from Jericho, Jordan, Jor-dan, visited Central School Tuesday. Tues-day. He demonstrated native dances dan-ces and games and explained the methods of Arabic reading and writing. ESN Seniors from BYU who will train at Central during the fall quarter include : Geniel Fugal, PI. Grove; Kath-ryn Kath-ryn Stephenson, Lelii; Barbara J. Warren, Missoula, Montana; Jean F. Baker, Fort Collins, Colorado; Col-orado; Connie L. Worthen, Price a.nd Dorothy W. Waiker and Cecil Cec-il Ward, Idaho Falls, Idaho. ESN Last Thursday night a group of parents and teachers mat at the Lindon School to view the first of a series of educational programs pro-grams over television channel 7. Speakers on the broadcast were Supt. J. C. Moffitt of Provo City Schools and U. S. Congressman David S. King. Following the broadcast the parents discussed possible solutions solu-tions to the school problems raised rais-ed by the speakers. This series of meetings, sponsored spon-sored by the Pleasant Grove PTA Council and directed by Mrs. D. C. Jensen, president, will be continued con-tinued this evening, Thursday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. in the library of the Pleasant Grove Junior High. The public' is cordially invited. in-vited. ESN Membership drive for Central PTA is currently going forward under the direction of Mrs. Thel-da Thel-da Vicchrilli, membership chair- . man. ESN Parents of Central School students stu-dents wh have resource talent in hobbies, crafts, rock collections or Indian lore are invited to assist as-sist teachers and children in these special classroom activities. ESN Training teachers at Grovecrost School for the fall quarter are Mary Bennett, Provo, Don Johnson, John-son, Graentsville; Shirley Ann Gray, Idaho Falls and Virginia Meldrum, Provo. ESN A safety assembly was held at Grovecrest Monday afternoon. Speakers were officer John Huntsman and Utah County Sheriff Sher-iff Dick Chappie. Bicycles a.nd pedestrian safety were stressed by the two of ficers. ESNi On Tuesday, W. H. Robbins of the local fire department inspected in-spected Grovecrest School and watched a fire drill. His comments com-ments on the student discipline was most favorable. ESN Supervisor of Art in grades Kindergarten to Twelfth, Miss Margaret Johnson, visited Grovecrest Grove-crest faculty meeting Thursday morning. |
