Show BYU Professor Is Speaker at Garden Club on April 2 The home of Mrs. Lucille B. Butt was the scene of meeting of the Pleasant Grove Garden Club on Monday, April 2. President Claudia Clau-dia Brown was in charge. Among other business transacted transact-ed the Garden Club voted to plant a tree in tribute to the 1955 American Am-erican Mother of the Year, Davina Fugal. The tree will be planted in the City Park. Speaker for the evening was Prof. Ernest Reimschiissel of the Brig-ham Young University, who talked to the ladies on landscaping landscap-ing and urged everybody to make the most of what they have. Prof. Reimschiissel showed pictures pic-tures and slides to illustrate his ideas. One of the big features of his talk was trees. He urged the club to work toward the protection of trees, many famous species of which are becoming extinct. , He also showed pictures of trees, flowers, and beauty spots brought by Mrs. Walter Leonhardt from Switzerland and Germany. These included the League of Nation's Building, and the UDS Temple at Bern. Miss Donna Lee Butt, daughter of the hostess, entertained with accordion numbers. Refreshments were President Claudia Brown, Mrs. Lavina Fugal, Fu-gal, Mrs. Effie Adams, Mrs. Rae Christensen, Mrs. Thelma Freeman, Free-man, Mrs. Harper, Mrs. Jackie Brady, Mrs. Fay Porter, Mrs. Lu-cile Lu-cile Hillman, Mrs. Bertha Thornton, Thorn-ton, Mrs. Ida Pierson,' Mrs. May Mrs. Anna Adamson, and Mrs. Butt, the mother-in-law of the hostess. hos-tess. A Flower show school will be conducted at Elliott Hall, 569 So. First East, Salt Lake City on April Ap-ril 12-13-14. Everybody interested is invited to attend. |
