Show ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NEWS Every student in Central School participated in the school fair held last Friday. Flowers, fruits, vegetables, veg-etables, handicraft and hobbies were on display throughout the day. ESN The PTA Executive Committee of Central School held a meeting meet-ing at 1:30 p.m. last Tuesday. The purpose of the meeting was to formulate plans for the current year's activities. The membership of this year's officers is as follows: fol-lows: Joan Jensen, president; Calvin Cal-vin Walker, first vice president; Nell Weeks, second vice president; presi-dent; Grace Giles, secretary-treasurer; Zola Blackhurst, hospitality; Ruth Cobbley, program; Beth Ol-sen, Ol-sen, room mothers; Ella Larsen, health; Anna Adamson, publicity; Nella M. Huish, scrapbook; Ruth Paul, magazine; Shirley Atwod, membership and Leulla Christiansen, Christian-sen, adult education. The program of activities for the 1956-57 year was outlined as follows: fol-lows: October, Halloween Festival; November 8, January 10, February Febru-ary 7, April 11 and May 2, regular reg-ular meetings, and May 15, Spring Festival. ESN Play areas are being designated by painted lines on the blacktop playground at Central School. The work is being done by the custodians cus-todians under the direction of a committee of teachers. ESN Four hundred Central School boys and girls are participating each day in the school lunch program. pro-gram. The tasty menus are being prepared this year by manager Jennie Allred and workers Lela McAffee, Pauline Lewis, Nell Weeks and Vivian Richins. ESN According to Police Chief Glen Newman, there is considerable speed on First East in the area of Grovecrest School. "Strangely enough," said Chief Newman, "some of the most numerous offenders of-fenders are parents of the school children." Mr. Newman pointed out that the speed limit in any school zone is 20 miles an hour. The City Police and school fficials ask for the sincere cooperation of all concerned. concern-ed. ESN Three hundred sixty-two Grovecrest Grove-crest students displayed over 800 separate articles at the school exhibit ex-hibit held in connection with the Pleasant Grove Community Fair. These articles included flowers, fruits, vegetables, hobbies, handicraft handi-craft and dolls. |
