Show Leo Harvey Elected President of Utah Water Users Ass'n Leo P. Harvey, local farmer and member of the Utah Water and Power Board, was elected president presi-dent of the Utah Water Users Association during the 13th annual an-nual meeting of the group held at the State Capitol Tuesday. He succeeds William R. Wallace, 91-year-old authority on western reclamation, who was honored with the title of "President Emeritus." Other new officers elected were L. B. Cain, Logan, first vice president; pres-ident; Warren Bullock, Cedar City, second vice president; and Tom W. Jensen, Salt Lake City, executive secretary-treasurer, who was reelected. re-elected. A feature of the meeting was an address by J. Vern Hales, head of the department of meteorology of the University of Utah. He said, "The practice of cloud-seeding, if carefully done, offers a great deal of economic hope to the arid sections sec-tions of Southern Utah." He pointed point-ed out that the practice should follow careful research and experimentation. ex-perimentation. W. E. Walsh, Washington, D.C., told the assembled water users that although great strides have been taken in western reclamation, reclama-tion, "there are still too many enemies to the program and many more who don't understand it." He concluded with a plea to not relax united efforts in this direction. |
