Does it make you wonder won-der just what kind of a world you are living in? No folks, these captions were I & ' r not gleaned from the files of the F.B.I. ; but . are the "come on" lines from the motion mo-tion picture ads appearing in one issue of a Utah daily paper. pa-per. To most adults, ad-ults, expressions express-ions of this kind are dis- gusung, if not downright revolting. revolt-ing. Has the appetite for entertainment enter-tainment of the average American become so jaded from over indulgence, indul-gence, that it takes sadistic en- ticements of this kind to lure us to the flicker palaces? Most of us bemoan the fact the teen-agers often go berserk, and do things that are so out of harmony har-mony with the ideals of modern educational and religious teachings. teach-ings. A moments reflection, however, how-ever, will convince any reasonable person that it is a miracle that the kids are as morally stable as they are. This is no case against the motion mo-tion picture theatre. Many features feat-ures now showing are commendable commend-able both from the informational and entertainment viewpoint. It is a plea for the elimination of the Increasing number of films glamorizing glam-orizing crime, violence, and immorality. im-morality. The old Chinese proverb, "One picture is worth a thousand words," has strong implications in this regard. What children actually actual-ly see with their eyes, makes a far more lasting impression than what they hear. While we have not as yet mustered mus-tered the courage to limit the type of films that may be shown; we can at least select the ones that our children should see. There are commendable pictures being produced pro-duced every month. Ours is the responsibility to determine which ones are to be seen. So long 'til Friday. |
