Show Stake Old Folks Committee Say Party Is Success The elderly people of Timpan-ogos Timpan-ogos Stake were really entertained entertain-ed on Saturday, Feb. 14, when the energetic and jovial Old Folks Committtee of the six wards outdid out-did themselves in their efforts to make the day a gala one, and see to the comforts of all. The day began at 10:30 a.m. with a picture show, The Road to Bali, compliments of Keith Miller of the Grove Theatre. Cars were in readiness to take the guests to the First ward chapel, where . the banquet was served at 12:30. The long tables were attractively attractiv-ely decorated in St. Valentine theme; as to the dinner nothing could have been added. The program in the chapel began be-gan at 2 p.m. with Stake Chairman Chair-man Paul Adamson presiding, and Parley Christianson of the Third ward conducting. President Merrill N. Warnick made the welcome address, and Thomas Fenton responded. Mrs. E. Ray Brown accompanied accompan-ied by Mrs. J. Howard Nelson, sang Put On Your Old Gray Bonnet; the Pleasant Grove Crum-ettes Crum-ettes gave two burlesque numbers; Musical numbers of Howard Nelson, Nel-son, Mrs. Nelson, Jan Nelson and Royal Neilson. George Paul read Oregon Trail by H. R. Merrill. Dale Martin gave a ventriloquist number. The following prizes were a-warded: a-warded: a gorgeous bouquet of cut flowers to Mrs. Millie Thomp- son, the oldest lady present; a Valentine box of chocolates to Henry Hall, oldest man; chocolates chocolat-es to Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Smith, oldest couple present. Chocolates to Patriarch and Mrs. D. B. Thorne, longest married couple, havingspent their lift here, and to Irving Johnson for his birthday, birth-day, Feb. 14. Neils Fugal pronounced the benediction. ... Too mucE-'cannot be said in praise of the committees who planned and worked so conscientiously conscient-iously and diligently to make it a day of days for the elderly guests, and day not to be soon forgotten. |
