Show Apostle Here For General Con. Apostle George F. Richards of the general authorities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was in attendance at three of the four sessions of the one hundred-thirtieth hundred-thirtieth quarterly conference of Alpine Al-pine stake which convened Saturday Satur-day afternoon and Sunday. The conference opened Saturday at 2 p. m. with President Clifford E. Young in charge. The congregation congre-gation sang "Redeemer of Israel" and the prayer was offered by F Ray Gardner. Raymond Chadwick then rendered a vocal solo. Those in attendance were welcomed wel-comed by President Young in li opening remarks in which he said he felt conditions were better than ' a year ago or even three months j ago and expressed the belief also ' that spiritual conditions are also somewhat improved. Heber Harrington, of Salt Lake , City, formerly of American Fork, 1 next spoke, expressing his pleasure , of being "back home." Advance-' Advance-' ment, he said, is only in proportion to our works. Bishop Joseph H. Storrs of the ; Second ward reported conditions m jhis ward to be improved over a year ago. The organizations, he reported are in good working condition. con-dition. An active correlation priesthood priest-hood committee with the Primary association have been a great help : in the Aaronic priesthood quorum work. Bishop Storrs reported on : the budget system which was now in force in their ward and was of the opinion this would prove the best system of raising ward funds that this ward had ever employed. A ladies trio rendered a vocal selection, se-lection, following which Bishop Edward Ed-ward Abel of the Third ward spoke. The auxiliary organizations of this ward are workking splendidly, he reported. Another selection by the ladies trio followed Bishop Abel's remarks. i Apostle Richards, the principal speaker of this session, occupied the remainder of the time. He expressed his happiness in the Gospel and in his membership in the church. He quoted President Brigham Young as saying, "When we go to the other side we will be at home and know where we are, for we have lived n |
