Show Ball Arranged To Honor President In compliance with a national 1 movement to honor President Franklin Frank-lin D. Roosevelt on his fifty-seconc birthday anniversary which occurs on January 30th. a Roosevelt birthday birth-day ball will be held in this city on that night, the proceeds ot which will be turned to the fund to endow en-dow the Warm Springs Foundation for the relief of thousands of persons per-sons afflicted with infantile paralysis. paral-ysis. Mayor William S. Storrs has received re-ceived a telegram from Har.ry L. Doherty, chairman of the Birthday Ball, New York City, asking American Amer-ican Fork to join with ail cities and towns of the nation in a tribute to the President. The affair will be arranged on a strictly non-political basis, bs-ng a united gesture of the nation's appreciation ap-preciation of our President. Mayor Storrs has appointed Stephen T. Shelley local chairman of the committee com-mittee on arrangements and Mr. Shelley will call in representatives of the various civic and religious organizations or-ganizations of the city to act with him in formulating plans for the ball which promises to be a very successful affair. The Gold and Green Ball, annual M. L A. event, which was set for the night of January 30th, in the Apollo Hall, has been postponed one week and will take place on February Feb-ruary 6th, instead. The Committee in charge graciously stepped aside for an occasion which honors our nation's President. The telegram received by Mayor Storrs follows: Mayor William S. Storrs American Fork. On January 30th the fifty-second birthday of 'President Roosevelt, practically every city and town in the United States is giving a birth-Iday birth-Iday ball in honor of the president to endow the Warm Springs Foundation Foun-dation which was established by the president to carry on a national nation-al battle against infantile paralysis which every year cripple thousands of children. Your city is one of the very few not yet organized and the national committee is anxious to have it on the honor roll, under your leadership. Since this movement move-ment has the endorsement of the American Federation of Labor and every fraternal and civic organization organiza-tion in the United States, you can form your committee by calling a meeting in your office of the heads of all local branches of these organizations. organ-izations. We would be honored to have you aocept the chairmanship and form a committee to give a birthday ball in your city, or if you cannot personally accept will you appoint such a chairman. Full details of procedure will be mailed you immediately. The radios have cleared all wires for one hour's broadcast starting eleven fifteen the night of the ball.
