Show Life-Long Resident Dies In Salt Lake City Joseph Brigham Clark, 83, who was the third child born In Pleasant Grove, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jessie Trom-mer Trom-mer in Salt Lake City. He was born September 23, 1851, in a covered wagon wa-gon near the home of Joseph A. Dickenson's where the first camp of Pleasant Grove was started. On November 8, 1878, he married Louisa Pierson in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City. He hauled rock for the erection of the Salt Lake temple. He fulfilled a mission to thel Southern States. His father, George ' Schaffers Clark, and his brothers erected and operated one of the first stores and theatres in Pleasant Grove. Mr. Clark was an early j teacher and educator of this city. He erected and owned the present high school gym and ran it two years as a dance hall, later selling it to the Alpine School district He held various offices in church and civic affairs. Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Jessie Trom-mer, Trom-mer, J. C. Clark, George L. Clark, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Grace Nicholes, American Fork, and Warren Clark, Pleasant Grove; 14 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren; also two brothers, W. E. Clark of Salt Lake, and Heber Clark of this city. |
