Show Ten Years Ago Now (Taken from files of Feb. 26, 1927) Chicken raisers in American Fork will increase the present number of hens here by at least 32,000 over that of last year if the additional coops already built or now being built are used as expected. A check with the local lumber dealers revealed reveal-ed the fact that nearly fifty new coops are built or will be built in the next few weeks. A total floor space of 64,000 square feet will be added to the present coop room in this district by these additions. Figuring the average space of two square feet to the hen this means that raisers are planning to increase their flocks by some 32,000 hens. Responding to a call from William Chipman, president of the Commercial Com-mercial Club, the board of directors met Friday morning, February 18th for the purpose of discussing various matters relating to the increasing of the membership of the local club. Mr. Kandsler, representing the International In-ternational Association of Lions' Clubs, met with the Board to interest inter-est the organization along the lines of Lionism. The object of his coming com-ing was to urge the local group as a unit to enter the Lion's organization. organiza-tion. He outlined very interestingly such a procedure and the advantages advant-ages of such a move. Representative George F. Shelley withdrew his bill designed to give municipalities the right 'to regulate Sunday amusements. The consent of the house for withdrawal was given Wednesday. The bill met considerable con-siderable opposition in the house before be-fore the committee, and the author explained that many objections had been met in a bill recently introduced intro-duced in the senate. K. J. Bird, musical director of the American Fork High School, is preparing pre-paring a big double header for the public for next Saturday night at the Cameo Theatre. The Boys Glee Club will present a snappy little comic opera entitled "The Freshman". Fresh-man". The Girls Glee Club will stage "Miss Carruthers Return" another an-other musical comedy, a scene of life in a girls' boarding school under difficulties. |
