Show Truck Driver Seriously Injured Preston Norton, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Norton, formerly of American Ameri-can Fork, was seriously injured Sunday in a truck-tractor collision which occurred on the bridge over Coal creek on Highway 91 at the north entrance of Cedar City. Preston suffered a badly fractured fractur-ed pelvis, crushed chest, cuts and bruises and possible internal injuries in-juries when the truck which he was driving north from Cedar City struck a tractor. The impact disconnected dis-connected the semi-trailer body and shoved it forward six feet over the cab. It required more than an hour for officers to extricate him from the machine. D. R. Norton, who was asleep in the bunk on top of the truck cab, was thrown clear of the machine. He received only slight injuries. The tractor was returning to the equipment sheds north of the city and was just crossing the bridge j when the impact occurred. Officers who investigated the accident described des-cribed it as unavoidable and said the height of the bridge made driving driv-ing over it practically blind at any time, and especially at night. Word received here Wednesday was that Preston was improved |
