Show Family honors Bill and Pauline Lewis on Golden Anniversary Surprise! Surorise! That is ex- Surprise! Surprise! That is exactly ex-actly what it was for Bill and Pauline Lewis on their 50th wedding anniversary anni-versary Aug. 26. The occasion was given at the Oak Crest Inn in Spanish Fork by their children, L. Edward and wife, Karen Robinson Lewis, from Leslie, Illinois, and LaReta Lewis Peterson Peter-son and husband, Mick, from Orem. What Bill and Pauline thought to be a small family dinner turned out to be a joyous affair with balloons, bal-loons, banners and all the decorations decora-tions that go to make a party. A savory prime rib dinner with all the trimmings was served to all those in attendance including the couple's brothers and sisters, or a representative of those family members who are deceased. Edward gave a tribute to his parents and presented each of them with a double eagle gold coin. LaReta followed with a book she made of "This is Your Life," with pictures and letters from all members of their families. Bill was born in Goshen March 27, 1916 to Edward and Gwendolyn Gwen-dolyn Rees Lewis, the eighth child in a family of nine. He moved with his family to Lindon where they built a home in which he and his wife reside. He attended school in Lindon and Pleasant Grove. In the early part of his life he was in the construction and trucking truck-ing business. He later bought the family fruit farm and operated it until his retirement. His primary hobbies were coaching coach-ing baseball and softball teams at all age levels. His teams won many championships. He founded boys summer baseball in the Pleasant Grove area in 1952. He is still an avid supporter and follower of Pauline & Bill Lewis baseball and other sports. Pauline was born in Leamington Leaming-ton on Aug. 28, 1920 to Lowell and Lareta Dutson Hanson. She attended at-tended elementary school in Leamington Leam-ington and graduated from Delta High School. They were married in the LDS chapel in Leamington on Aug. 26, 1939. Later they moved to the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove area where they have since resided. Pauline worked for the Alpine School District in the food service department, starting part-time and retiring as director of that service after 29 years. Her hobbies are traveling, gardening, gar-dening, sewing, cooking and first, being grandma. They have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. |
