X i Three firemen honored for years of service Pleasant Grove Fire Chief Calvin Mills has presented service pins to three veteran firefighters in cere-monies held recently at the fire-men's summer party. Pins went to Eldon Johnson and Ford West, who have each served in the fire department for 40 years. Don Hales received a 25-ye- pin. The pins were actually awarded by the Utah State Firemen's Asso-ciation. Here were no injuries. i other police matters, Officer sttLlovd arrested an adult male on Friday night for evading a police officer. According to the police report, a car began following Officer Lloyd near Geneva Steel on Geneva Road The car followed him every where he went so he pulled over and let the car pass him. He then followed the car for some distance before turning on his emergency lights in an attempt to pull the car over. The driver of the car then sped away, beginning a chase which began at 600 N. State in Lindon and which ended at the Frontier Cafe at 600 S. Geneva Road in Lindon. Officer Lloyd was assisted by the Orem Police Department and other Pleasant Grove officers. A male was arrested for DUI in Lindon by Officer Randy Shepherd. Several juveniles and an adult were arrested following a fight at a party in Pleasant Grove. Wholesale Foods, 520 W. State, Pleasant Grove, reported the theft of 30 pallets valued at $300. Officer Jay Thornton said there is a suspect. An Associated Foods truck mak-ing a delivery at Nortons Store apparently backed into a fence belonging to Roland Robinson. There was $400 damage to the fence. Officer Brett Lloyd investi-gated. He also commented how the Boosters had helped to Biderably raise the attendance allofthe athletic activities through f'ft awareness. Head Baseball Coach, Jon wer, also thanked the Boosters. "said that not only had the team benefited from the batting cages commented to the board how she had greatly appreciated the sup-port that the club had given her and her players. She said that she was pleased with the increased amount of spectators that she had seen at the girl's games. Sherrie observed that when the club started, that everyone really had an interest in the sport that' their son or daughter was involved in, but that last year she saw members attending events that their own kids weren't even involved in, and they were supporting all pf the activities. She said that everyone on the board has had an interest in improving all of the activities through their support. She reminded everyone that there will be a pre-gam- e BBQ on Septem-ber 22 when P.G. plays Mountain View in football. The Booster Club encourages everyone to join them again this year. The nominal $10 per person annual donation will again be ap-plied to a project this year, and allows those with their card a half-pric- e discount at any home activi-ties at PGHS.
