Jr. High. Improving jr. high students rewarded By KALYN SECRETAN A total of 319 Pleasant Grove Junior High students realized they can accept a challenge and succeed. The students were treated to a special showing of the movie, "Karate Kid" on Feb. 4. In order to be eligible to attend the movie the students were required to be on the honor roll or increase their grade point average by .50 and not have an F in any class. ' . .: .. At the Close of the second term there were 20 more students on the honor roll than there were for the first term. 95 students increased their GPA by .50 or more. Shawn Chappell, an eighth grade student had a grade increase of 2.14 which was more than any other student in the school. Shawn was congratulated by Principal Kent Rowley for an excellent ex-cellent achievement. As an incentive during the third term for students to further strive for the honor roll or improvement in their grades, the school will award prizes. Radios, cameras, watches, ghetto - blasters and pocket calculators will be given as well as food prizes arranged by the PTA. As the contest was announced students were excited to strive harder and receive one of the prizes at the close of the term. |
