"it . n Have you ever wanted to try square dancing? Now is the time! The Country Cousins are offering three free classes on January 25, ''February 8 and February 15. Country Cousins is the new name selected Jan. 18 by the former Hoot " 'n Holler Club. The group dances weekly at the Pleasant Grove Recreation Center on 41 East 200 south. There is a beginners class at p.m., an 'intermediate at 8-- ;9 p.m., and "mainstream from 9 to 10 p.m. a Glen and Jody Sherwood, the club presidents stressed that beginners jare encouraged to come. Many age groups participate and a good time ttis enjoyed by all who come. I Residents of the neighboring ftowns are also encouraged to come to Pleasant Grove and join with the Country Cousins. The club is proud of the caller, Ray Rhea, from Salt Lake City who 'Eis president of the Callers Association. Jr. High. Improving jr. high students rewarded By KALYN SECRETAN A total of 319 Pleasant Grove Junior High students realized they can accept a challenge and succeed. The students were treated to a special showing of the movie, "Karate Kid" on Feb. 4. In order to be eligible to attend the movie the students were required to be on the honor roll or increase their grade point average by .50 and not have an F in any class. .: .. At the Close of the second term there were 20 more students on the honor roll than there were for the first term. 95 students increased their GPA by .50 or more. Shawn Chappell, an eighth grade student had a grade increase of 2.14 which was more than any other student in the school. Shawn was congratulated by Principal Kent Rowley for an ex-cellent achievement. As an incentive during the third term for students to further strive for the honor roll or improvement in their grades, the school will award prizes. Radios, cameras, watches, ghetto - blasters and pocket calculators will be given as well as food prizes arranged by the PTA. As the contest was announced students were excited to strive harder and receive one of the prizes at the close of the term. 1 I L ' ' J .1, 1 1 - " "From Liberty's View..." Robinson earns rank of Eagle Scout Matthew Robinson was awarded the Eagle Badge at a Court of Honor 6 held Jan. 28. He is the son of Michael L. and Judy Robinson of ) Pleasant Grove. For his Eagle project, Matthew il transplanted trees from Tibbie Fork to the Silver Lake area in American Fork Canyon. Matthews has always enjoyed sports, particularly basketball, baseball and track. He enjoys fishing, trapping and hunting and also raises chickens and rabbits. He . is currently in the ninth grade at ' Pleasant Grove Junior High.
