The boys and their leaders made one set of number blocks numbering from 1 to 100; two sets of upper and lower case letter blocks; eight wooden puzzles; and four geoboards. Johanson Delbert Campbell Brent Steele Missionary farewells, homecomings slated Mr. and Mrs. DaWayne Cordner, of Pleasant Grove, has been called to serve in the Brazil Sao Paulo North LDS Mission. He will speak in a sacrament service Sunday, Feb. 16 at 9 a.m. in the Manila First Ward Chapel, 3986 West 8800 North, Pleasant Grove. An open house will also be held the same afternoon at the family home, 8885 N. Cn. Rd., Pleasant Grove. Elder Cordner will enter the Missionary Training Center on March 13. seven months on the Island of Madeira off the coast of Morocco. He also served on the mainland in Guimaraes, Lisbon, and Leiria., While working in the mission office as historian, he saw the mission break all previous baptism records for several months. Campbell A missionary farewell for Elder Delbert D. Campbell will be held Sunday, Feb. 16, at 11:30 a..m. in the Pleasant Grove 17th Ward, 825 S. Loader Dr. Elder Campbell, son of Gordon R. (Pete) and Dee Campbell, has been called to serve in the Tampa, Florida Mission. He will enter the Missionary Training Center on Feb. 20. Delbert graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and Seminary. He has been active in church and city league sports. He worked at Annie's Pantry as a cook. Steele, Lindon, has been called to serve in the Japan Tokyo South LDS Mission. He will speak in a sacrament service Sunday, Feb. 16, at 3:20 p.m. in the Lindon Third Ward Chapel, 731 E. Center. Carl, was privileged to serve for Computer applications fair set at UTC for prospective students High school students will receive an inside look at computer ap-plications and careers at a Com-puter Applications Fair sponsored by Utah Technical College at ProvoOrem. The fair, set for Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and to be held in the Business Building of the Orem Campus, is under the direction of the Accounting and Data Processing departments at the college and will introduce students to a variety of software, ap-plications and computer vendors. In addition to learning about computers, visitors to the fair will be introduced to the Accounting and Data Processing departments of the college. UTC offers an excellent job placement rate for graduates as well as transfer programs to four-yea- r colleges in computer science, computer information systems, information management and accounting. Central School receives Valley Forge Award Pleasant Grove's Central Elementary School has been awarded a Valley Forge Honor Certificate for its school writing project last year. Principal Robert Emal said that the Board of Directors and Trustees of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge notified them recently of their selection. The school was selected by the independent 1985 National Awards Jury to receive the award. : The award will be presented to the school later in the year. The two writing projects the school did last year which received the recognition are 'Citizenship Attitudes" and "Becoming Better Citizens." Pageant seeks youth art for exhibit All Utah students, grades kin-dergarten through 12, are invited to enter the 1986 statewide Youth Art Exhibit sponsored by Utah Pageant of the Arts, according to an an-nouncement by Marcia Peterson, chairman of the Youth Art Exhibit. Local students are especially encouraged to enter the com-- 1 petition, which offers students an opportunity to participate in a total arts experience - creating, com-peting and exhibiting in a respected show. Some 27,000 patrons of Utah Pageant are expected to view the exhibit during the Pageant season June 9 through July 18. Entries will be accepted until April 28, 1986 in any of the following mediums: Oil, water color, crayon, pencil, pastel, acrylic or equivalent, Sculpture works will also be ac-- I cepted. However, craft or stained glass works will not be eligible. All paintings must be mounted. All entries will be judged by a committee of professional artists to be selected by Utah Pageant of the Arts. There is no entry fee. Each painting must be mounted and every entry must be accompanied by an official entry form. Copies of the necessary forms, along with detailed information, have been distributed to every principal in every elementary, intermediate and secondary school in Utah this week, Peterson said. Entries will be judged by grade and a $50 U.S. Savings Bond will be presented to the Sweepstakes winner in each grade in special ceremonies on the Guild Gala Night, June 14. All participants who work is selected for hanging in the exhibit will receive a certificate designating this honor. The Youth Art Exhibit is held annually at American Fork High School, by Utah Pageant of the Arts, the Utah Arts Council and the National En-dowment for the Arts, Washington, DC. PI.
