Adam, 14, is the son of David and Regula Holdaway. He is a ninth grade student at Pleasant Grove Junior High. He is a good student and has been on the honor roll. He plays drums in the junior high band. Adam was on the AVA staff at school year and is the AVA chair-man this year. He has participated with the Pleasant Grove Recreational Swim Team for seven years and has received several first and second place medals at the county championship meets. He has also been on the junior high track team. His favorite activity is playing football. Adam was always an Active Scout f ; . j v&-SssS- !. issvsAf - even as a Cub. He went on all the campouts and attended Timberline Camp. It was Adam's involvement with the swim team that led to his choice of Eagle service project. He con-structed a scoreboard to be used at the meets. The scoreboard was used Adam Holdaway last summer and it made the swim meets more interesting to both the swimmers and the spectators. In fact, it was so successful that it was used by Springville for the county championship meet. Adam has followed in the foot-steps of his brother, father, grand-father and several uncles, all of whom have received their Eagle awards. Local youth artwork accepted in Utah high school exhibit v. ,v ) I J r-- , f . I X 4 i f I ' ''A m . Dan Lewis, a senior at Pleasant Grove High School, is the only local youth with art work accepted for the Utah High School Art Exhibit now showing at the Springville Art Museum. Dan, son of Bill and Diane Lewis, entered pen and ink drawings of people for the show. The exhibit opened last Wednesday and is open to the public. Works of art from students throughout the state are on exhibit. Dan is interested in art as a career, perhaps in commercial art. He is a member of Cloggers West and enjoys reading, drawing and girls. He plans to serve an LDS mission and come back and study art in college. Dan is taking three art classes this year and enjoys pen and ink drawing the best. Dan Lewis Jason Jarvis presented Eagle Jason Eugene Jarvis, Troop 835 of the Pleasant Grove 14th Ward in the Pleasant Grove East Stake of the LDS Church, received his Eagle Scout Award on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at the Pleasant Grove 14th Ward Blue, Gold and Green Banquet. Jason is the son of Ken and Vea Lynn Jarvis. He is the grandson of Roy and Elaine Carter and the late Eugene Jarvis and Verna C Peterson and the late Alma M. Peterson. Jason is a deaf student in the 8th grade at American Fork Junior High School and has won many awards including the National Secondary Education Award as Academic All American and in Art. Jason has been nominated for the National Secondary Education Award for Leadership. He has been active in many sports including, Community Basketball and the Little League. Jason was active in the Cub Scout Program and received his Arrow of Light and his On My Honor. He received his Interpreter's Strip for Jason Jarvis sign language and he interprets other deaf students at the Americ Fork Junior High School. For his Eagle Project he lai scaped a piece of naturafe property on the Pleasant Gro East Stake front lawn. This eluded the planting of trees a shrubs which are natural to l area, placement of large rocks ai the pouring of a concrete mow str around the arrangement. Sportsmen plan survival lecture The Pleasant Grove Sportsmen's Association will hold a meeting on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 8 p.m. in the Sportsmen's Lion's Center (605 East Center) in Pleasant Grove. The public is invited to attend. Dr. Max Blackham will lecture and show a film on water survival dealing with hypothermia, dehydration, what happens and how to deal with it. This is very im-portant for sportsmen and the public to know more about. The Sportsmen are planning a hunters safety course for youngsters around the first of , March. Those wishing to take this course should check next week in this newspaper. The exact date and time will be posted. "1 1 , 1 in i t 1 lwA v&k A .: jsfrdm fl John Olsen John Olsen awarded Eagle John Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Olsen, has been awarded the Eagle Badge in ceremonies held in the Manila Stake. John is a sophomore at Pleasant Grove High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society, sophomore basketball team, and is on the honor roll. His hobbies are hunting, sports and fishing. He has received the Mr. Hustle award in baseball. For his Eagle project, John cleared Tibbie Fork Trail by trimming limbs, cutting out logs and building water logs to prevent the water from washing the trail out. This will especially benefit the people who ride horses. He has served as president of the Teachers Quorum. Jason Wells Jason Wells receives Eagle Jason Wells, son of Kent and Janet Wells, has recieved his Eagle Rank in ceremonies held in the Manila Stake Court of Honor. Jason, 15, has served as a patrol leader and as Teachers Quorum president. He is a tenth grader at Pleasant Grove High School. He enjoys tennis and hunting. He has received the On My Honor award. For his Eagle project he held a bicycle workshop and inspection. |
