Show BYU to feature world dancers The finest dancers from BYU's touring dance groups will be highlighted for four nights at World of Dance, an annual concert planned this year for Sept. 24-27 at 7:30 p.m. in the tie Jong Concert Hall. Tickets are available through the music ticket office, 378-7444. "This concert uses the best material in our repertoire in . a showcase that should get the public excited about our dancing' program," says Gary Hopkinson, director of publicity for the Dance Department. "Most of our groups toured this summer, and they are in fine form to show us outstanding performances." . Featured will be the International Folk- Dancers, directed by Ed Austin; Lee Wakefield's Ballroom Dance Company; The Dancers' Company, led by Pat Debenham; and the Theatre Ballet Company, coordinated by Sandra Allen. During the summer Austin took his dancers to Israel and Switzerland. Swit-zerland. The Ballroom Dance Company won honors at an international in-ternational dance competition in Blackpool, England, and Theatre Ballet toured the western United States. Also appearing will be the Cougarettes' precision dance team, with stylized dancing assembled by Peggy Caughey, and Christine Ollerton's Children's Dance Company. |
