Here are Jme of their responses: fhristie Parker, who plays Leisl, oldest of the children, says ithat the been great working with the 9ha8and the best part of being in is being with everyone and Lie the scene with her Ecter's boyfriend, Rolf. However the hardest part is the Ling scene with him, because it is her first experience with kissing. Friederich, played by Brandon Ashton, is the oldest boy in the family, and Brandon thinks that the best part about the play is the people that are in it, but says that hT misses being in Scouts and doing things with his friends. Twelve-year-ol- d Julie McCand-ijg- g gayg it's really been fun being in the play because of the neat people like Traci and Marvin who are involved and she hates to see it end, but she also has been missing out on a lot of activities. One young man, Gary Webb, who plays Kurt, thinks that being in "The Sound of Music is giving him a chance to learn to sing better, and even though he thinks Joan Lindsay is hard, he knows she just wants him to to his best, and he thinks he is. Gary also can't wait for the performances to start. Lisa McGhie wants to do things like this in the future. She likes the performing part of the play and thinks she is a ham, but she doesn't want to see it end. Nine-year-ol- d Cercee Kaelin, who plays Marta in the play, enjoys the whole thing, and her favorite part is when Maria gets married to the Baron. Singing the part of "jam and bread" in the song "Do-Re-M- and going into the bedroom acting scared is the hardest part for Cercee, though. Little Emily Edens, Gretl, is only five years old, but she likes being in the play even with all the hard work. Her most favorite scene is where the family is hiding from Von Zeller at the Abbey, but she confesses that she has a hard time with the songs. All of the children think the play is the greatest, and they think that everyone who comes' to the performances will too. By SHARON MORREY ( If you're looking for something to do, somewhere to go, a night to JJ thoroughly enjoy yourself - look to "Pippin," currently onstage at the j Sundance Summer Theatre. Set among the pines and clouds, j' the rolicking Broadway hit 'is right at home with magic, humor and 1) music. The dancing is expertly 1 choreographed and overall, it's just plain cleverly done. A Jayne Luke directs and acts in the ? production - just opened June 14 and g running nightly at 8 : 30 through July J 6th, Monday to Saturday, then alternately with Fiddler on the Roof ' July 10 through Aug. 30. As Fastrada, she is humorous and likable although maybe not so much an "ordinary mother" as she pretends. Steven Gregan as Pippin tries the fortunes of war, love and politics before he finds what the audience discovers for him. Happiness is right before him in the form of a child and his mother. Yet Pippin as. a play doesn't preach. The audience is led ' magically and musically through the serious and the sardonic before i the message settles in all by itself. Impossible dreams are part of the magic. So are the places where characters in 'Pippin' pop up. The dancing is part of the magic. And the magic is, well just plain magic. How did they do that? Russell Williams is a "ducky" small lad with a flair for acting. Charlemagne, played by Spencer Ashby, is a Dom Delouise from another century. i A capacity opening night crowd welcomed the play, excellently done. All who can should see this.
