Show Four teens injured in car rollover Four teenagers were injured Monday afternoon when the car in which they were riding went out of control and rolled over near the intersection of Sam White Lane and Proctor Lane west of Pleasant Grove. Utah County Sheriffs Deputy Larry Patterson said that Dawn Whaley, 16, Pleasant Grove, Christine Simon, 14, and Theresa Simon, 17, both of Pleasant Grove, and John Shepherd, 17, American Fork, were injured in the mishap. The Simon sisters were admitted to American Fork Hospital for treatment. Theresa suffered a dislocated shoulder and open compound fracture of the arm. The others received cuts and bruises, the officer said, and were treated and released. The accident occured when the driver, Steven Lea, 16, apparently swerved to avoid hitting a chuckhole, the car went into the gravel, he over-corrected and the car went into the irrigation ditch on the north side of the road and landed on its side in a field. Damage to the car was estimated at between $1,500 and $2,000. Robert Williams of the Pleasant Grove Ambulance Association said that three EMTs went directly to the scene of the accident and were there before the two ambulances from Pleasant Grove arrived. A total of seven EMTs assisted at the scene as well as one former EMT now with the Fire Department and one trained individual who is not with the Association.- EMT8 were unable to remove Theresa from the car until it was secured by the two truck. EMT Sharon Hailam stayed in the car with the girl administering first aid until she could be removed from the vehicle.
