Show Citizen, Review, Press, Wed., June 20, 1984 - Page 13 Criminal justice hearing held tonight process in Utah will be shown and a commission member will briefly speak about the critical criminal justice challenges and issues facing Utahns. Citizens and public officials at-tending the hearing can express their view by writing down their concerns and ideas and submitting them to the commission members at the hearing. There will also be an opportunity to address the commission. All in attendance will be asked to respond to a survey concerning criminal justice issues. Citizens in the Utah and Wasatch County areas will be asked to voice their views on a broad range of criminal and juvenile justice questions at a public hearing in the Provo City Council chambers tonight, June 20, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Similar hearings are being held in other Utah Communities during June and July to inform the public about critical criminal justice issues and to hear from participants. Some of the areas that will be covered in tonight's meeting include criminal sentencing, prosecution, incarceration, law enforcement and victims' rights. Craig L. Barlow, executive director of the Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, said citizens are encouraged to comment on any topic ranging from neigh-borhood crime prevention to the paroling of state prison inmates. During the hearing a brief film depicting the criminal justice Firewood permits available Don Nebeker, Uinta National Forest Supervisor, stated that firewood permits will go on sale beginning June 25 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and will be valid for the period beginning July 2 through Sept. 30, 1984. Permits will be available at the Supervisor's office at 88 West 100 North in Provo; Spanish Fork District Ranger's Office, 44 West 400 North in Spanish Fork; and Heber District Ranger's Office,' 125 East 100 North in Heber City. Approximately 8,500 permits are available. Prices will vary by wood types, which include live aspen, live oak, or dead and down wood, but there is a $10 minimum charge per permit. Information regarding access to the wood sale areas will be given to the public at the time of permit purchase. Permits must be picked up in person. Altrusa Club presents tables The fir planks and galvanized steel pipe used in the tables were donated to the club, Mrs. Whitney said. Yorth Brothers donated their services to bend the pipes, and Lee Miner donated the truck to bring the finished items to the school. Members of the Altrusa Club and the Altrusars put the tables together. "It's really a cooperative effort all around," Mrs. Whitney said. She noted the club began in January to make contacts for the materials and it took members about a week to put the tables together. ID Edith Whitney, a member of the Altrusa Club,' said the tables are made without seats so wheel chair users may use them comfortably. . They are of two heights so both adult and children wheelchairs can utilize them. Mrs. Whitney said the club members made the tables "from scratch" after confiring with off-icials at the training school. The course will begin with registration at 5:30 p.m. on July 2, in the driver training area of the College, located just inside the West entrance of the South wing on the Provo campus.
