Cloward hit the next pitch the right centerfield fence for a home run. League-leadin- g and undefeated ' Interstate Transmission edged Organized Parking 2-- 0 to remain on top in the Pleasant Grove City Mens Fastpitch Softball league Monday. Ken Walters struck out 13 and limited Organized Parking to a pair of hits in leading Interstate to the win. George Hardy and Lynn Walker got base hits in the fourth inning and Rick Ford, the designated hitter, drove them in with a double to score the games only two runs. The Nationals had a tough time getting past the winless Saints 5-- Rob "Fuzzy" Mecham pitched very well in a losing cause while Kay Thayne posted the win for the Nationals. Kent Chipman drove in the game-winnin- run with a fifth inning single. Chipman bounced the ball up the middle to score Jim Stoneman and break a 2-- 2 tie. Stoneman came up with the game's defensive play in the bottom of the fifth when he robbed Dave Larsen, Saints first baseman, of an extra base hit and possibly a home run. Stoneman raced back from his centerfield position and caught the ball running full speed as he crashed into the fence. Stoneman's hat fell over the fence as he was doubled up on the four foot high chain link fence. The night's most dramatic finish came when Malin "Coyote" Brannin, Steve Peterson 'B' catcher, blasted a bottom of the seventh inning three-ru- n home run to lift Peterson's to a 7-- 5 win over Lamoreaux Concrete. Jack Hill had a one-ru- n lead going into the seventh inning but Lyle Lamoreaux lined an opposite field triple to lead off and Jay Walker trippled down the left field line to score Lamoreaux and tie the game at 4-- Hill was lifted and Craig Green came on in relief. Green retired the next three hitters but a passed ball allowed Walker to score giving Lamoreaux a 54 lead. In the bottom of the seventh Kim Walker and Weldon Nielson singled and Brannin followed with the game-winnin- g round tripper. Doug Hooley had given Petersons the lead in the sixth with a two-ru- n single that scored Craig Carter and Cameron Tolman. Wils Family rolled over Southam-Warburto- n 11-- 3 as the league's leading hitter, Dave Ratliff went 3 for 4 to raise his average to .630. Ratliff also scored three runs and his dad, Whitey, was the winning pitcher. Bryce Walker belted an inside the park home run in the second inning and Walker Oil went on to shut out Rock Canyon Assembly of God, 8-- Walker oil broke the game open in the fourth with five hits and five runs. Kreg "Chub" Gillman pitched a two hit shutout for Walkers. Gillman, in only his second year of pitching, is rapidly improving. At this point he is just wild enough to be effective. In the nightcap, the Playboys rebounded from last weeks shutout to blank the Pleasant Grove Merchants, 8-- Bill Warnick was the winning pitcher for Lindon Precision Playboys.
