Show Review - Thursday, May 12, 1983 - Page 11 Swim team registration Registration for PG Swim Team being taken at the PG is now Recreation Office, 41 East 200 South. Office hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays. Registration fees for this year are as follows: one family member, $20; two family members, $35; ,three family members, $45; four or more family members, $50. To qualify for Swim Team, a child should be able to swim 25 yards (any stroke). If you have any questions you may contact the coaches, Del Young or Sharlene Sanderson. If you wish to buy a team suit (same as last year) for your child, suits are available to try on for size at the Recreation Office and orders will be taken when you register for Swim Team. This will be the only opportunity this year to purchase a team suit. Swimming lesson registration underway Registration for summer swim lessons at the Pleasant Grove City Pool are now underway at the Recreation Office weekdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Bill Hoglund, recreation superintendent, said that the registration is going well with many children already signed up. If the weather cooperates, the pool is scheduled to open on May 28. The first swimming sessions starting in June are on a two for one unrestricted basis. Members of more than one family may participate together for discount lessons. Lessons are offered in mother-tots- , beginners, intermediate beginners, advanced beginners, intermediate swimmers, advanced swimmers, ladies swim-trim- , scuba diving lessons for beginners, intermediate and advanced, and junior and senior life saving. Cub Scout and Boy Scout swimming can be made by special arrangement at the pool office. Other programs will be accomodated if sufficient interest is shown. Contact the pool office with your requests. Colt League tryout & signup There will be tryouts for all 15, 16' and 17 year old boys interested in playing colt league baseball this summer. The tryouts and signup will lc held on the high school baseball diamond next Tuesday May 17, all! p.m. A $20 registration fee will be required at the signup. Pleasant Grove sportsmen attend convention On April 22, 23 and 24th the Pleasant Grove Sportsmens' Association sent their President, David Adams and Director Carl Parry to the Utah Wildlife Federation Convention held in Park City. Mr. Adams and Mr. Parry represented the sportsmen in our area as delegates. Also representing our area was Verl Shoell of American Fork who is the state Director of District 6. The Utah Wildlife Federation is the parent, state organization made up of local sportsmens' groups throughout the state. They are affilliated with the National Wildlife Federation. Their membership includes hunters, ' fishermen, archers, conserva-tionists and all those interested in wildlife and conservation in any form. Problems throughout the state were discussed with special attention to Public Lands. The National Wildlife was represented by Ernie Day, Vice Pre. of the Western Region, Director Douglas F. Day, among others. Gary Coleman and Frank Savage represented the Uintah National Forest and Jim Pissot represented the Utah Audubon Society. Marlin Perkins of the television series "Wild Kingdom" was the special guest speaker on Friday evening and Congressman James Hansen spoke at the luncheon on Saturday. Awards were presented for the Conservationist of the year, outstanding club of the year, outstanding conservation legislator of the year, outstanding conservation officer of the year and Utah hunter education instructor of the year. Resolutions were passed to oppose the diking of Provo and Goshen Bay as set forth in the plans of the Central Utah Project, to pay lobbyists for the state legislature in order to protect the sportsmen's rights, to support a statute promoting instream flows of water for wildlife use and also one to support traditional access and adequate access roads to public lands. Mr. Sheldon Eppich of Ogden has served as president of the Utah Wildlife Federation for the past four years but stepped down this year. Elections were held and Gerald Gordon of Tooele was unanimously elected for the next two years. He is a member of the Tooele Wildeiife Federation and has been an active sportsman and conservationist for most of his life. Softball off to swinging start Steve Peterson's Interiors, the Stingers and Barratt Builders started the season with a win in the OCity Softball League Monday Night in American Fork. Peterson's saw pitcher Butch Dunn pitch his second no-hitt- of the year to lead the team to a 9-- 0 victory over the Bullets. The Stingers outplayed Jack & Jill Lanes to a 8-- 0 victory. Barratt Builders had a tougher time with Don's Car Care, pulling off a d 5-- 4 victory in the closing innings of the game. Peck's had a bye in the seven-memb-league. The league plays every Monday at the old American Fork Jr. High School and Wednesdays at lehi's Memorial Park. They invite the public to come out and watch some of the best Softball action in Utah. Little League umpires wanted Robert Morton announced today that all those age 14 and over who would like to umpire little league games this summer should register now at the Recreation Office weekdays between 3 and 5 p.m. For further information, please contact the Recreation Office at 785-"61- or see Mr. Morton. Health tourney feted Play racquetball for "Health's" sake and attend a free health clinic. The American Fork Hospital and this newspaper are a tournament to be held May 4 at Tri-Cit- y Racquetball Courts. Free testing and information will be given in the following areas: Blood Pressure tests will be taken from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 11-1- 3 and from 1 to 5 p.m. on May 14. Pulmonary Function Screening will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on May 14. Podiatry Examination will be provided from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 13. Nutrition for Athletes information will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on May Il-ls.
