MAE JACKLIN THORNTON Children's art festival planned Pleasant Grove will add a new dimension to its Strawberry Days celebration this year, just for the children of the community. The Recreation Department will sponsor a Children's Art Festival in the Library Park. Mary Coons, ' chairman of the project, said that i this will be a "hands on" art festival where the children won't only observe, but also take part in the J arts. J Mrs. Coons commented that ; there will be guitar and mandolin ; players, doggers, a stained glass demonstration, story tellers, mimes, and dozens of other ; volunteers that have consented to I come and share their talents with the children. ( She said there will also be an elephant and a giraffe made from chicken wire that the children can decorate with crepe paper. "Hopefully, we will have more volunteers come forth and offer a few minutes of their time sometime ; during the three days that the festival will be running," said Mrs. Coons. She said she can be reached at the recreation department at 7&5-6172. 7&5-6172. "The response from the community and the Strawberry Days Committee seems to be really good," she said. She added that those who have been contacted to help have commented that this kind of project is long overdue for the community. |
