Show Museum faces more delays The opening of the centennial centen-nial exhibit at City Hall has been postponed again because be-cause of construction delays. According to museum director direc-tor Pat Smith the latest report is that it may be three to six weeks before the exhibit can be moved from its temporary assembly headquarters head-quarters in the Memorial Building to the first floor of "City Hall. The latest problem is that the new front doors of the building are too small and must be recommissioned. Installation of the doors will also hold up work on the hardwood floor in the museum mu-seum space. Last week Smith called an emergency meeting of the museum board to discuss the delay and the state of the museum budget. Board members Jim Kennicott, Lamar Oseka, Jim Ivers, Harry Reed, Tom Shellen- berger and Bea Kummer attended the meeting. Smith informed them that her contract would expire on April 15 as per her agreement agree-ment with the City Council. She said that although the exhibits will be completed by April 15, installation would require at least two weeks. The board was also told that although the project was currently under budget, additional ad-ditional funds would be needed to complete the installation. Smith added that because of a misunderstanding misunder-standing with the city a $4,000 security system was now part of the museum budget. She said she had thought the cost would come out of the City Hall building restoration restor-ation account. The board resolved to ask the City Council for approximately approxi-mately $5,000 in additional funding to open the exhibit. |
