Show Mel Fletcher to resign Mel Fletcher, who has been the head of the Park City School District's maintenance program for six years, submitted sub-mitted his resignation to the Board of Education Tuesday night. The board accepted his resignation, expressing gratitude "for a job well done." Now that he has reached retirement age, Fletcher said he would prefer to work part time. The district is hoping to continue to use his services, said Board President Gary Avise. Fletcher's retirement will become effective on May 15. New treasurer takes oath of office Bill Sampson was officially sworn in as the new business administratorclerktreasurer for the school district on Tuesday night. Sampson replaces Joann Vaughn who requested retirement last month. Sampson lives in Sandy and previously served as the director direc-tor of accounting for the Alpine School District. He is cur-;- rently the president of the Utah Association of School Busi-: Busi-: ness Of ficials. Community councils j recommend full leeway ! "We collectively feel that all five mills of the voted leeway 5 should be levied," said Don Gomes at Tuesday night's school j board meeting. He spoke on behalf of all three school com- : munity councils. 5 "The main reason Park City residents approved the voted leeway was because they wanted to raise the salaries of the j district educators. In light of the fact that the state ? legislature did not increase our allotment as much as we ; would have liked, we want to support the board in levying the full amount," he said. S Representatives from each of the councils reiterated ; Gomes' statement. Sewer District asks for easement l The Snyderville Basin Sewage Improvement District presented a request for an easement to the Park City School ; District Tuesday night. The easement would run along the north side of Utah Highway 248 for approximately 1,300 I ' linear feet crossing almost the entire southern boundary of the school district's property. According to Board President L- Gary Avise the board of education took no action on the issue II.. and will study its position before the next board meeting, f "The district is concerned about how the easement will affect "i our landscape plans," said Avise. |
