WIC clinic The Summit County Health Department will hold a WIC clinic in its Park Meadows Plaza offices on Thursday, Aug. 11. WIC provides supplemental food, nutrition and health instruction in-struction to women, infants and children. Women who are pregnant, lactating, or who have delivered within six months may be eligible. Infants under one year and children up to five years may also qualify. The Prospector Athletic Club is hosting the first "Dancewear Rummage Sale" on Saturday, Aug. 13 at 10:15 a.m. in the gymnasium. You are invited to bring any dancewear (leotards, tights, trunks, leg warmers) or workout work-out wear (in reasonably good condition and clean, of course), marked with the sale price and your name. Appointments are available for morning, afternoon and evening. Examinations are performed by a nurse practitioner. Services offered include: physical exam, PAP tests, counseling coun-seling and education, VD screening, pregnancy testing and contraceptive supplies. Costs for these services are reasonable. (811) Summit County Fair Park City area residents are urged to attend the events and to enter the many traditional competitions in the Summit County Fair, August 13-19. The entry deadline for artwork to be judged at the fair is Wednesday, August 17. Horticulture entries must be in place by Thursday, August 18 and flowers will be accepted all day August 18. Baked goods must be entered by 9 a.m., August 17 as must home canning exhibits. (811) Stepparenting sessions The Park City Family Counseling Institute is sponsoring a parent education and support group for stepparents to begin Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at Park Meadows Plaza, Suite 204C. Topics which will be addressed by the group will include : Special problems of children and parents when remarriage occurs; feelings in stepfamilies; getting along better with stepchildren; special discipline problems; the important subject of names; and promoting good relationships and decreasing fighting among stepsiblings. Childbirth preparation The Summit County Health Department will be starting its next series of childbirth preparation classes Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Park Meadows Plaza facility. Options in birthing room, delivery room, Caesarean birth, and breathing techniques will be covered. Movies and manual are included. This is a seven-week series for $20 per couple. Shorter refresher series are available for $10.00. There is a sliding fee scale for both. Please call in advance for registration. (91) Photo-journalism workshop Phot6grapher Russell Ogg will teach a photo-journalism workshop Aug. 15 through Aug. 26 at the Kimball Art Center. Concentrating on the technical handling of camera and film, the workshop will cover discussions ofxolor, black and white, composition and lighting. News photography, commercial, com-mercial, and advertising photography will also be discussed and compared. In addition, students will receive an introduction introduc-tion to the video camera, its functions, its uses and other aspects of video equipment. As a nationally recognized photographer, Ogg worked for the Chicago Daily News and the Chicago Tribune. He is experienced ex-perienced in commercial and advertising photography and is published in several national magazines. After losing his sight to diabetic retinopathy, Ogg developed the technique for photographing hummingbirds. Two hours daily will be set aside for personalized question-and-answer sessions, individual photo assignments, and critiques of students' work. Students should bring camera; and at least two of their own photos to the first day of class. The workshop will meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost for the course is $125 for non-credit, non-credit, $145 for two hours credit through the University of Utah's Division of Continuing Education.
