Show Noise and theft spell wild, wild fest week Three hit-and-run accidents, acci-dents, numerous thefts and a pile of noise complaints spell out a wild, wild week on the police blotter for the seven days from Aug. 2 through 9. Amazingly only one DUI arrest was made for the week. William C. Carter of Sandy reported to police that while his car was parked in the Alpha Beta parking lot on Aug. 4 an unknown vehicle sideswiped his car. The two door panels on the driver's side were damaged. Officer Richard Clayton reported that on Aug. 6 that a large black 4x4 with Utah license plates "FLEXCO" struck a smaller red Chevrolet Chevro-let four-wheel drive vehicle and then left the scene. The incident was witnessed by David Lord of Sandy. The police later received a call that the suspected vehicle had been seen again in the area of the 600 block of Park Avenue. The police impounded im-pounded the suspect vehicle and issued a citation to be given to the owner when he claimed it. The following day at the owner's residence the police made contact with Edward Pryor of Park Avenue who admitted responsibility re-sponsibility for operating the vehicle. Pryor works for the owner of the vehicle. On Aug. 3, Cathy Morris of Park City reported that an elderly man driving east on Fifth Street failed to stop at a stop sign while driving east into Swede Alley. Morris told police that she didn't think the man was aware that he hit her automobile. Tom Wight of Park City reported to police on Aug. 9 that someone had stolen 20 cassette tapes from his Subaru station wagon while it was parked in the Iron Horse parking lot. The tapes are valued at $150. On Aug. 8 Shirley Hanson Han-son of Holiday Tops in the Holiday Village Mall reported re-ported that between Friday and Saturday morning some-; one had stolen a man's wedding ring, a 14-karat gold nugget, an eight-inch gold-filled gold-filled rope, and an 18-inch gold-filled chain. She said that some time on Sunday a 24-inch herringbone and a 14-karat bangle were stolen. The total value of the missing goods is listed at $1,120. On Aug. 7 Alpha Beta security officer Sheldon McKenna detained a suspect for shoplifting. The suspect had allegedly stolen a box of Dexatrim diet capsules. The suspect was issued a citation and arraigned in Fifth Circuit Cir-cuit Court on Aug. 10 where she pled guilty to the charge. During the Art Festival while on patrol, police were' summoned to the Rock and Silver Shop at 312 Main St. by an unknown citizen who reported a broken window. -Police notified Bob Beall, the owner of the shop. It is not known if anything was stolen. The manager of the Park City Pizza Company, Brett Strikwerba, reported on Aug. 7 that $350 was missing from the deposit bag that he put in the desk at his residence. The missing cash was in small bills. Lia Clark reported to Park City Police that during Saturday night someone had stolen a folding table from her Art Festival display on Main Street. The table is valued at $25. Richard Reilly reported on Aug. 2 that while his automobile was in the city impound lot the front tires were stolen. The tires are valued at $120. Mark Scott Mclntyre of Park City reported on Aug. 7 that while he was travelling north on Monitor Drive he was run off the road by another vehicle when he came around the corner of the 2500 block. He said he swerved into the opposite lane of traffic and travelled approximately 70 feet through the field and reentered re-entered the roadway. When his automobile hit the curbing curb-ing on the opposite side of the road it rolled once and landed on its wheels. A measurement of Mclntyre's skid mark showed his vehicle ve-hicle to be travelling 49 m.p.h. in the 25 m.p.h. zone. Mclntyre was ticketed for the offense. On Aug. 6 police responded re-sponded to an ambulance call and found that a fight had taken place at the back entrance of the Cowboy Bar. Three Salt Lake men and one Park City man were arrested. ar-rested. Park City police arrested ar-rested an American Fork man for driving under the influence of alcohol after they followed him on High- I way 224. " Fifth Circuit Court ' ' In an Aug. 3 hearing in the court of Judge Larry R. , Keller, Kevin D. James pled guilty to reckless i: driving and was sentenced to 20 days in jail to be suspended upon payment of 1 a $175 fine. I Kyle L. Wharton pled j guilty Aug. 3 to retail theft and was sentenced to three days in jail to be suspended upon payment of a $45 fine. He will be on six months probation for the July 27 theft of a bucket of balls from the Park City Municipal Munici-pal golf course On Aug. 10 John A. Adair pled guilty to DUI and hit and run and was sentenced to 20 days in jail to be suspended upon payment of a $200 fine. William A. Bailey plead guilty to DUI and possession of a controlled substance and reckless driving. Bailey was placed on a six-month probation proba-tion for the possession charge. He was sentenced to 20 days in jail to be suspended upon payment of $200. Brenda J. Davis plead guilty to retail theft on Aug. 7 of a container of diet pills from the Alpha Beta. She was fined $50 and put on six months probation. Gerald F. Hanley plead guilty to DUI and reckless driving. He was sentenced to 20 days in jail to be suspended upon payment of a $200 fine. |
