Show Teachers push for start of sa ary negotiations On behalf of the teachers in the school district, the Park City Education Association Associ-ation has asked to begin salary negotiations with the Board of Education. "Usually these negotiations negotia-tions are completed before the end of the preceding school year," explained PCEA President Don Johnson, t "But we were asked by the I, school board to wait until a f new superintendent could be found, and we were agreeable agree-able to that. But now we have a need to go ahead." The school year is due to begin Aug. 25 and returning teachers still do not know what they will be paid. "We have put together a package of requests and we hope to meet with the board to set the ground rules next week," he said. "We realize it has been a tough year but we are hoping there will be something in the budget for us." Johnson said that the ( package included some sug-, sug-, gestions for setting budget priorities which might help the teachers. He claimed the Park City School District's average salary ranks 21st out of 40 districts in the state. "I think we have seen that" the salary scale directly affects the quality of staff people we can attract to the district," he said. |
