Show Tournaments galore set at Park City Golf Course Although tin- Jeremy Ranch is getting most of the publicity this month, it's not the only area golf course to be holding tournaments in the next couple of weeks. Here is a quick look at some of the events on the calendar for the Park City Municipal Golf Course, with information informa-tion provided by Head Pro Doug Vilven: The Dick Whitney Memorial Me-morial Tournament: Sponsored Spon-sored by the Park City Men's Golf Association, this tournament tourna-ment is open to all golf league participants and other interested players, men and women. It is scheduled to be held Sunday, Aug. 14. Proceeds will benefit bene-fit the Park City Ski Team. There will be flights for handicappers and non-handicappers. non-handicappers. The $30 per person entry fee covers green fees, carts, an outdoor barbecue and a donation to the Ski Team. Participants should sign up by Thursday, Aug. 11. The Park City Pro-Am Tournament Vilven said about 125 people are ex peeled in town Monday, Aug. 15 for this event, including about 25 club pros. The entry fee is $25 per person for this team individual event. The Park City Women's Association Club Championship: Champion-ship: The first round of this event was held Tuesday, Aug. 9. The second and final round is schedu'ed for Tuesday, Tues-day, Aug. 16. The Park City Men's Association Club Championship: Champion-ship: This 36-hole tournament tourna-ment is scheduled to be held Aug. 20-21. Among those expected to attend is defending defend-ing champion John Miiller. A marathon golf event sponsored by the Park City Pro Shop: In this event, golf course employees Terry Out-zen Out-zen and Mike Kutcher will see how many holes they can play in a single day, starting about 6 a.m. The tentative date is Aug. 29. Per-hole pledges are being solicited from local residents. Proceeds Pro-ceeds will benefit such programs as golf scholarship funds and turf research. The Park City Junior Championships: This tournament is scheduled to be held Thursday, Aug. 18. The first annual Park City Match Play Tournament: Tourna-ment: As many as 275 golfers are expected in town for this week-long tournament tourna-ment Sept. 19-25. Vilven said the event is open to the first 100 women and 175 men who sign up. The women will participate in a stroke-play tournament Sept. 19-20, and the men will follow a match-play match-play format Sept. 21-25. Prize money so far totals $2,500 for the women and $10,500 for the men. Registration Regis-tration has already begun for this event. |
