Show A 'i : :" 1 fx tJ Girls' b-ballers mashed twice in week by Randy II an skat Although it is very doubtful that any students at Park City High School were disappointed to go on Christmas break last FYiday, one segment of the student body must have been even happier than the rest. That segment is the Miner girls' basketball team. You see, during the course of eight days, the team lost three games by a combined score of 203-52. That's losing on the scale of Northwestern in college football, the Los Angeles Kings in hockey, the Texas Rangers in baseball, the Golden State Warriors in basketball, the Buffalo Bills in pro football. So, can't you understand why the girls may have felt extra pleasure when that final bell rang FYiday? The Miners played twice last week, once Dec. 18 versus Grants-ville, Grants-ville, once Dec. 20 versus South Summit. Both were away games. The Grantsville game was more along the lines of the North Summit 95-19 mashing which opened the Miner season Dec. 13. The final score in Grantsville was 70-19, with Park City on the losing end. Miner Coach Bob Burns said it all "We made a run of it for about two minutes," he laughed. He said Grantsville is a good 2A school, and was expected to trounce Park City. For Park City it was sophomore dynamo Wendy Brown who dumped in the most Miner points she had eight. South Summit was the opponent Dec. 20 in Kamas. In that game Burns said the girls played some good defense on the way to not-so-shabby 38-14 loss. Natalie Bleyl moved back to the forefront in scoring with six points. Wendy Brown had four. Burns said he saw some good defense, but his offense was lacking against the Wildcats. Unlike the game against North Summit the week before, Park City had no trouble inbounding the ball against South Summit. Burns said the problem was ballhandling and execution on offense. He said the Miners showed no patience. Burns said his team will win some games this season, in spite of the shaky start. As the team gains experience and the schedule becomes be-comes more forgiving, the story for the Miners may change.
