Show Tis the season to be stealing It is supposed to be the season of giving, but according to the Park City Police blotter, it is more like the season of taking. Numerous thefts were reported to police during the past week and eight DUI arrests were made. On Dec. 23, Val Provensio reported to police someone had taken his Tipsy Taxi and crashed it into parked cars on Woodside Avenue. According to his report, the taxi was left running outside 470 Woodside Ave. An unknown suspect drove away in the car. But about 40 yards down the road, the taxi crashed. The driver fled the scene with a wallet containing $25 in cash. A Baltimore, Md. man. Dr. Harry Freedman, reported the theft of a pair of Pre 1200 skis, Salomon bindings and a Minolta camera from his car while it was parked in the underground parking lot at Shadow Ridge on Dec. 25. The theft of $2,800 in cash and clothing was reported Dec. 24 by Irene Defaria E. Castro from Tempe, Ariz. According to her report, the money and goods were stolen from her car. while it was parked at the Park City Resort Center. On Dec. 24, Becky Molen reported the theft of towels from the Prospector Square Convention Center. Cen-ter. Listed as missing are 30 bath towels, 30 hand towels, 40 washcloths wash-cloths and 10 bath mats. Hartmut Niggemeier was arrested for aggravated assault near his Holiday Village apartment on Dec. 23. The arrest came following a scuffle at the Holiday Village residence of Kerry Gibson. Niggemeier Nigge-meier was booked into the Summit county jail in Coalville. On Dec. 22, an 11-year-old Salt Lake City boy reported to police that a white male, about oo, tried to coax him into a van parked near the V hite Pine Touring Center where the boy was skiing with a supervised group. Police are investigating the incident. On Dec. 23, a 19-year-old Houson, Texas man was arrested for lewdness on charges of public urination. According to the report the suspect was spotted urinating on a Park City Resort Center walkway. He was cited for lewdness and released on his own recognizance. . On Dec. 22 Park City police arrested a 19-year-old Salt Lake City man on charges of altering a Utah driver's license and illegally consuming consum-ing alcohol. The suspect was found inside the Rusty Nail saloon at the resort center. Police found beer in his possession. He was booked into the county jail. Rhonda Cannard told police on Dec. 22 that her house on Prospect Avenue was burglarized of $3,600 in cash and personal items while she was attending a Christmas party in Salt Lake City. Steve Erickson of the White Pine Touring Center reported the theft of about $300 on Dec. 22. According to his report, the center had collected about $625 in fees for a Saturday race on the course at the municipal golf course. But while Erickson and others were officiating the race, the box containing the fees was removed. A passerby found the box in the restroom behind Adolph's restaurant with about half the money still inside. Kaye Cumpston of Rugged Elegance Ele-gance reported the theft of an $80 jacket on Dec. 21. The jacket is described as having a rainbow tie-dyed pattern and made of cotton duck. |
