Show Utah Arts Festival Billboard Project The 1983 Utah Arts Festival is now accepting layout designs for its visual artists billboard project. This is a new project open to all visual and graphic artists interested. Three designs will be selected by a jury based on their visual impact and their ability to utilize the billboard as an artistic medium. Artists whose designs are selected wilj receive a cash award of $1,200 plus statewide state-wide exposure and notoriety. The billboards will be placed in 63 locations throughout thro-ughout the state, with each design reproduced on app roximately 20 poster boards and one hand painted board. The projects' goal is to gain recognition of participating visual artists on a statewide level. Instructions for entering are as follows: Artists should keep in mind basic principals of outdoor advertising regarding re-garding perspective, visual impact and simplicity. The only restriction on design is that, at some point, the design must incorporate the word "Utah Arts Festival, June 22 - 26". Artists must submit their design in the form of two comprehensive color layouts in two different dimensions. Layouts for the thirty-sheet poster board will be 10 34" x 4 78" designed on a scale of Vi" Layouts for the hand painted bulletin will be 12" x 3V2" designed on a scale of Vi"l'. Art work may be in any opaque medium and must be designed desig-ned for opaque production. Layouts should be mounted on illustration board with completed entry form attached att-ached in the upper right hand corner on the back of the board. Artists may submit as many designs as they wish. Entries are due by 5:00 p.m. on April 8, 1983 at the Utah Arts Festival offices, 617 East South Temple, Salt Lake City. Calendar: April 8 - Layouts due; April 9 - Jury meets; April 15 - Notification mailed; mail-ed; April 25 - May 13 -Production; June 10 - June 30 - Billboards posted.
