Show Permit valuation drops dramatically in October Well, it had to slow down sooner or later, and it seems last month's snow and frigid weather did the trick. Building permit valuation dropped from over $7 million in September to only $1.3 million in October. The weather, much colder and snowier than October of 1983, showed its effect. Last year's permit valuation for the same month, mainly on the strength of one commercial building and several housing units, was $4.1 million. Last month saw a sharp drop in the mainstay of this summer's construction residential buildings. Only two dwelling units were issued permits, those for a duplex at The Woods in Deer Valley. That duplex is valued at $261,761.55. The only memorable item on last month's permit list is in the "alterations and additions to commercial buildings" category where eight permit : were issued for a value of over $610,000. Of that total, $445,000 is Iot the remodeling of the Washington School, according to Dawn Jensen of the Park : City Planning Department. Otherwise, the only work of note was in footings and foundations for Aspen Hollow, Courchevel, and the Pine Inn at Deer Valley. Those three projects made up the majority of the $242,000 in the "other" bracket, said Jensen. For the calendar year to date, 1984 has pushed to almost $20 million higher than in 1983. Through October the total is $49,041,276.53. Last year's total was $29,347,697.21. |
