Show Sfei Season Gonna Be-A Smash by Robert Hicken With the final weather reports being turned in, it's most easy to see that this years ski season will be something better than extra-ordinary. The deepening snow has been the constant itch in my side, as the desire to test my skills in the new snow, press my conscience. Piled high along the streets of Park City are . the mounds of snow which fell this past weekend. The piles along the shops along the sidewalks look like miniature ski hills, begging to be ridden. .: The snowfall did more than just arouse the inner feelings about skiing, they also brought out the small time thieves. ';. Skiers at the resorts have learned that there is no safer place for skis than under lock and key. r Thefts on all the resort slopes is common, but a simpler barrier for leaving the skis unattended, is to try and keep them within eye sight at all times. The slopes at Park City are constantly being groomed, their trails are looking swell. Massive amounts of snow have fallen on Thaynes and the Jupiter Bowl is loaded with the snow that it is famous for. Almost six feet of the fluffy, powder. One of the most impressive sights at the resort this year has to be the new gondola cabins. They are still the comfortable 4-passenger cabins, but will have automatic opening and closing doors which allows quick and easy loading. The surprise was even greater when it was snowing and their wasn't a cloud in the sky. The mountain is alive with it's own snow making machines. This gives the base of the mountain a longer lasting pack, and the top a. more solid base to ski from. All the exercise that I did during the fall to prepare myself for the ski season has paid off. After skiing all day long, there was hardly the fatigue that usually comes after a hard workout. The ache which sometimes accompanies the 'day after skiing, wasn't there either. So take off, and ski on the Top of the Mountains. |
