Show Men and Women Begin Softball Season in Park City maintained a healthy lead throughout the five inninge leading 13 to 0 after the first. On Tuesday, Doc's dumped Woodhaus 14 to 11 in a tight match. Both teams have now each lost one and won one. The ladies played two games on Sunday and two Monday. On Sunday Janeaux's got off to a 15 to 1 first inning lead oyer Sneakers and continued the trend through five innings before the game was called at 32 to 3. Later in the day Group I downed the Club 28 to 6 in a game that was tied two to two after the first inning. Group I led five to two in the second but exploded in the third scoring eight runs. They continued the trend in the fourth with adding 11' runs to their scores and wound up the fifth leading 28 to 6. On Monday, Just Amies ran circles around Prospector Sirloin to a 23 to 8 win and Sneakers came up with a major upset downing Group I 22 to 13. The Park City softball season got underway this week with games on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at City Park. Additional games were played Wednesday but the results were unavailable for publication this week. Both men's and women's leagues played Sunday while on Monday only the women played and Tuesday only the men. Men's action on Sunday saw the Doc's Club team upset by the Alamo Bums 18 to 12. The Bums led the game 14 to 3 in the fifth inning but in the sixth Doc's came back to score nine runs to tighten the score. The Bums scored four of their own in the inning for the 18 to 12 final. In the second men's game, the Hat Store handily defeated defeat-ed End Run 14 to 5 in a game that saw the Hat More maintain a solid lead throughout. Highlighting the afternoon was an exciting match between the Club Coconuts and Woodhous. Coconuts led 18 to 9 at the top of the fourth but Woodhaus rebounded re-bounded with nine runs at the bottom of the inning to tie the score at 18-18. Coconuts scored three in the fifth bringing their run total to 21 but Woodhaus bettered them by one scoring four to take a one point lead at 21 to 22." Woodhaus held Coconuts Coco-nuts to no scores in the sixth but racked up two more themselves for a 21 to 24 final. Through the regular season the teams play seven innings or for an hour and a half whichever comes first. If, at the end of five innings, one team is ahead by 15 points or more the game is called and the team out in front is declared the winner. The final men's game Sunday saw the Club employees em-ployees (The Club sponsors three teams this season) fall to Janeaux's 24 to 6 in a match that was called after five innings.
