Show Graduation Exercises Held for Park High Seniors by Anne Burnett "The class of '82 can be proud of leaving its mark in sports and academics ranging from football and tennis to the sterling scholar" scho-lar" said Park City High School Student Body President Presi-dent and graduating senior t Bob Blackbourn. , He made the comments during the high school's eighty-first commencement exercises held Friday night at the school. Sixty-one graduates listened lis-tened to Blackbourn's address as salutatorian which turned out to be the most serious speech of the evening as Honor Student Kimberly Koch and Valedictorian Valedic-torian Denise White opted for more humorous messages mes-sages later in the program. PCHS Principal Jack Dozier singled out Blackbourn and Senior Class President Les Gurski for their contributions in leadership and their help during the last few weeks as Dozier recuperated from back surgery. The ceremony lasted exactly exact-ly an hour complete with musical selections by Elizabeth Eliza-beth Thaller . at the piano and a presentation by the Senior Choir. The musical numbers weren't without some humor, however. The Class of '82 received its share of warm chuckles from the audience as they attempted attemp-ted to sing the school song. Several graduates admitted laterxthey "were pretty nervous" and had a hard time getting the words out. As President of the Board of Education, Nancy McComb handed out the diplomas congratulating each graduate gradu-ate as fellow board members looked on from the audience along with beaming parents rushing to take historic photos and fidgety young-youngsters. It was an unexplamably proud moment for parents like Gene Lambert, Mark Simmons, Jan Scott, Carmen Jones, Judy Summer, Father Pat Carley and this reporter who were among about eight hundred parents and friends who watched gingerly as their offspring marched out of one world and into another. Memories of first days at school, broken arms, braces and first dates flashed by silently only to be broken by the yells of the graduates as they reached the top of the PCHS stairs diplomas in hand. f ,,- If"! . m ! - r ,..
